Irish Setters have been running in field trials in Southern Africa for more than 50 years and have won proportionally a very much greater number of trophies than other breeds even though their numbers are relatively much less. This makes Irish Setters a special and outstanding breed.
The Irish Setters have also distinguished themselves in the field as practical hunting dogs capable of finding and presenting game in both professional and personal hunting conditions that require both speed and endurance.
In addition Irish Setters look good and run with great style and speed and have at the same time a willing and biddable temperament. They learn to behave as responsible family members in the home which makes them a pleasure to live with. They remain a real tribute to those few people who have enjoyed breeding and working them over the years.
